8th Grade News
Dear Piedmont 8th Grade Students and Families, Welcome to Piedmont! We hope you had a great summer and are looking forward to an exciting and challenging year as an 8th grader. You are leaders within the Pirate community, and we are excited about your continued success this upcoming school year. We look forward to providing you an excellent education in which you are inspired to continue to pursue a passion for learning and a commitment to personal integrity and academic excellence. As a student at an IB school, please remember there are several continuation requirements. First, you must take and pass all of your core courses, Health/PE, and at least one elective each year. All 8th graders must complete their 8th grade community project this academic year. You will receive information concerning due dates. The final IB requirement is to take and pass a world language in each of your years in middle school. Failure to meet any of the above requirements will cause you to be reassigned to your home school. In an attempt to “go green,” we will be utilizing e-mail and the internet as much as possible this upcoming school year. Our supply list is currently available on our website; and as we progress through the year, we will be posting important documents such as permission slips and schedules via the site. Additionally, several of our teachers utilize the internet for assignments to be completed at home. If you are unable to access e-mail, please be sure to note that at the bottom of this page so we can provide you with a paper copy. Please be sure to sign and return this paper to your child’s homebase teacher as soon as possible. We are looking forward to a great year! Sincerely, John U. Kirkland Assistant Principal
